Just in time for Santa

I finished this candy cane striped mat for a mall in Canada just in time for Santa. It makes me smile ear to ear knowing all the little feet that will be scampering across the mat to whisper their Christmas wishes into Santa’s ear. Happy Holidays indeed! Ho! Ho! Ho!

A work in progress

Sometimes turning a work in progress into a work of art can be tedious. This mat is going to be beautiful and I’m looking forward to seeing the end piece, but getting there sometimes means painting the mat three times to get the effects that I want. The photo shows what stage I’m at currently, the below image is where I’m heading. It’s all worth it in the end when it’s showcased in the room for which it was designed. Rug vs Mat

This client loved the design of the rug in her kitchen but wasn’t loving how it functioned. Solution—photograph the rug and turn it into a mat. This was an unique idea that worked beautifully. Digital printing gives a whole new meaning to “anything goes”. In this case, the client was happy that I pulled the rug out from under her.

Floor mat… ehh

This Canadian client requested a fun, playful, multi-striped mat in shades of green and cream. A matching pet mat was also produced to add the ultimate design continuity to this contemporary kitchen. Both were digitally printed to perfection.

Under the Sea

Under the sea… into the kitchen. This is an unlikely kitchen floor mat but conveys just how unique floor mats can be. My scuba diving clients loved the idea of a colorful seascape underfoot. The large odd shape made it equally unique. Painting this underwater mural was so much fun that I had dreams of tropic vacations. Aloha!

Fido for Father’s Day

This mat goes to the dogs, but Fido is pretty happy about it. A client provided the image of their faithful pet and a mat was created just in time for Father’s Day.

Digitally Beautiful

This digitally printed mat was designed for a friend who lives in Taos, New Mexico. I love this pattern, it printed beautifully digitally and looks great in her Adobe home. I can print any image on a mat as long as it fits within a 4′x8′ size restraint and invite the idea of printing personal artwork, photographs and even children’s art as the ultimate floor mat. How cool would it be to have your personal or child’s artwork as a runner down your hallway?

Artist Series

Ever since I’ve had the capability of printing mats digitally I’ve wanted to create an artist series where I could offer floor mat collections from artist I’ve known and liked. The Eric Martin Collection utilizes a traditional pen and ink crosshatch style to depict interesting places and characters that have their own unique stories. These illustrations give a “fly on the wall” observation of human nature. They are beautifully detailed, witty originals. These aren’t just floor mats – they are floor art! Like the Wine Country Collection they are 22″x30″ and are now on my website at www.studiokfloormats.com.
