Chickens are very popular in kitchens, I find. I’ve done my fair share of what I like to call “Poultry” mats, and for this kitchen I rather liked my feathered friends. The client had a wooden statue of a golden chicken that stood on the counter like a friendly greeter. I loved it and so did the client. Painted on top of a black crackle background to match the countertop – our friendly golden hen came alive with other hens creating a virtual hen house on the floor. Adding sunflowers and a checkered border seemed only fitting for this country design. I’m happy to say, “the chickens have come home to roost.”

Which came first, the Chicken or the mat?…
April 29, 2010Coffee anyone…
April 13, 2010My friends hired me to do this mat when I first started my business. They loved the idea of a coffee cup and I loved the idea of steam swirling up their galley kitchen. The green sponged fauxed background added just the right amount of whimsical depth to provide a soft steamy effect. Now not only do they wake up and smell the coffee they see it too.
